Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo in my yard in New Hampshire lakes region. I was proud of the sled which I refinished. At the time of this photo - I was playing with digital snowflakes in lightroom and in photoshop, but these are the real deal, and it shows.

Time

It was just about 2 pm. I looked out the window and it was finally snowing! I had about 3 minutes to get the shot before my then 2 year old wanted to go back inside!

Lighting

Nothing specific. It was a real grey day - and it was snowing. I just wanted the white to look white and the woods to still be dark.

Equipment

Nikon D5000, 50mm lens.

Inspiration

My husbands grandfathers sled which I just refinished that winter. Unfortunately, even in the mountains of New Hampshire, we didn't have much snow last winter so I was happy to catch this.

Editing

I used lightroom to adjust exposure

In my camera bag

I shoot with a D5000, a 50 mm and sometimes a speed light. Nothing to fancy. Trying to get what I need with the bare minimum.

Feedback

Just keep shooting. Play with Settings, learn how to bracket and keep trying.
