Location
The picture was taken at my sisters house in both Wales. She was so excited about her new pups and was dying for me to take some photos for her.Time
MiddayLighting
The lighting contortions whereby ideal, the pups where all in my sisters front room with only natural daylight from behind, but due to the pups being the lightest colour in the shot I was able to really make use of the contrast between them and their surroundings.Equipment
I used a Nikon D800, 24-70mm f2.8. Handheld My main tool in my bag was my family. Each one of the pups where little wrigglers which made it impossible to get the shot without a little planning. Everyone held a pup in their hands and placed the intricately together moments before the picture was taken... moments after they all rolled or wiggled away. The before and after pictures actually tell the true story lol. But with a bit of prep I was able to get a natural looking pose from them.Inspiration
My sister always asks me to take pictures of their animals. I have a keen interest in wildslife photography and love animals myself.Editing
I shoot my pictures in raw format, so this forces you to work on the images in post. Generally bringing the colours out and sharpening... I think I also cropped the image slightly as their where people's hands still in shot after they placed a puppy down.In my camera bag

Invest in a fast lens, this allows you to take natural pictures in low light conditions.
