I took this photo at the Southport airshow in 2016 on Southport PierTime
It was taken in the early afternoon on a beautifully clear day, which meant i could drop my ISO and shutter speed for a noise free image.Lighting
I added a bit of contrast and used a bit of colour boost to really make the smoke trails pop, i chose the narrow crop which i think adds a bit of drama to the image.Equipment
I used my old Canon EOS 1200D and a Tameron 80mm - 200mm lenseInspiration
I was lucky with this, the Red Arrows are always going to give off a real show, i just got lucky with where i was stoodEditing
i normally increase the contrast and clarity of images a bit, some times where I think it will make a difference i will increase colour saturation, that's what i did here.In my camera bag
i always have my EOS 250D with a fully charged battery with me Canon EOS 18-55 f1.8 lense, i take a 50mm prime lense with me to, as well as a sparte battery and memory card. i make sure i have my lense brush and blower with me as well if in case i end up somewhere dirty and need to clean my lense.Feedback
At an airshow you generally get a few passes of the aircraft and get to see the directions of travel, if you can see if you can observe them for a pass or two and try and find the best location to stand.
