This picture was taken in my backyard

The lighting was perfect, the sun was just coming up, This lonely daisy was in the shade and begging for me to take a shot.

Equipment

Brand new Nikon 7100 and a Nikkor 180mm f 2.8

Inspiration

I got up that morning to a wonderful sunrise, I got my new camera the day before so I was eager to get some shots with the morning lighting.

Editing

Yes, I did color correct the image in Lightroom, very subtle edit, the original is very close to this one. I Also enhanced the flower itself, I masked it and bumped up the contrast and clarity.

In my camera bag

I usually have my Nikon D7100, Nikon 24-80, my trusty Nikkor 180mm f2.8, My 35 year old E series 50mm f 1/8, 2 or 3 wireless flashes, plenty of batteries. In this case I did not use flash. I usually use off camera flash in most of the my shots.

Feedback

Don't be afraid to get on the ground, you may get dirty a bit, but the angle you will get will be worth it. DOF for this shot, in was imperative to use F2.8. I also chose, F 2.8 because of the lighting, I got more light in that way.
