Location
This photo was taken just West of Cochrane, Alberta on the way home from a family vacation in Lake Louise.Time
The sun was setting, just past golden hour, the haze gave itself to a dim, otherworldly photo of the McDougal Memorial Church.Lighting
Don't be afraid of overcast days! Yes, it makes a wide angle landscape shot difficult, even flat seeming- but for foreground heavy photos it allows for a greater range in contrast on your subject.Equipment
Nikon D3200, 18-55mm lensInspiration
I had just read an article about leading lines and this photo was very a opportunistic moment. I uploaded it on viewbug immediately!Editing
I tried to keep the post processing to a minimum with this photo. I increased the contrast slightly and lowered the saturation to give it a bit of a moody tone. Beyond that, it's pretty much as is!In my camera bag
I carry the standard kit lenses at all times: a 18-55mm and a 70-200mm. I also like to carry a magnifying glass, extra memory card and my tripod never leaves the car, just in case.Feedback
Be patient, wait for the lighting you want to get the tone you're going for. If you're pressed for time, post processing is your friend! But also, toy around with focus, choose different points to emphasize to get different perspectives of the same shot.
