Behind The Lens

Location

This photo is taken from my balcony in Gothenburg in Sweden. I saw this stunning double rainbow and couldn't get it all but I gave it my best shot to show the colors. I saw that it ended on the top of the tall apartment building and went through the clouds and thought it would be a good display of the scenario.

Time

This was in the afternoon if I remember correctly. I remember that I saw the rainbow out of my window and rushed to take photo only to notice to my surprise that it was double.

Lighting

The light this day was weird. You might think that this photo is somewhat post processed, but it isn't so much as I normally don't do heavy post process on my images. This is one of the days that you only see so many times in your life time.

Equipment

I used my Canon EOS 7D and I took the photo handheld.

Inspiration

I normally try to grab any opportunity to catch a great image. Rainbows are one of my favorite when it comes to making a photo. The lighting that day also inspired me a lot.

Editing

I normally try to adjust levels and sharpen the picture. In this case I enhanced the colors a bit to emphasize the colors of the rainbow.

In my camera bag

I have my Canon 7D, and my favorite lens 17-40mm L. I also carry around 50mm lens and a 70-300mm telephoto lens to get to hard to reach places.

Feedback

If you see a rainbow, play with it a little and see if you can make it end or begin in a different places like I did with the house where the beginning of the rainbow comes out of the top. There are many ways to make images interesting, you just have to experiment and not be afraid to fail.
