Location
I took this photo at home in front of our very small Christmas tree.Time
It was in the evening after it was dark outside so that I could turn the apartment lights out to reduce the amount of light in the shot.Lighting
The only lights used were the Christmas tree lights and a small LED torch which was shone in to the palm of the hand to light it up a little more.Equipment
This was shot handheld on a Canon 700D with the 50mm 1.8 lens at f1.8. I set the white balance to Tungsten to give the blue cast in the photo. The snowflake effect was created by placing a snowflake cut out in a filter holder.Inspiration
I have seen lots of pictures of booked effects and wanted to try and create something a little different. The movie Frozen is so popular right now, and this image was inspired by that.Editing
In Lightroom I took the shadows down a little to reduce the ambient light a little more, and brought the colour temperature down a little more to give it the cold, icy feel.In my camera bag
I almost always take my 50mm f1.8 lens with me since I do like experimenting with depth of field. The other lenses in my bag include a Tokina fisheye and Canon 28-105mm USM. I also don't go far without my ND filter set as I like to do a lot of landscape and long exposure shots.Feedback
Just play around with different shapes and try and find a subject to focus on in the foreground to make the abstract bokeh have some context within the photo.
