Awesome shot. Looks like a haze above which adds to the picture.

Behind The Lens

Location
The photo was taken near Winterton on Sea in Norfolk, the wind pump is looked after by the national trust and helped pump the water from the ‘broads’
Time
This was taken just around sunrise, and taken looking north.
Lighting
I had seen the possibility of this picture the day before when I drove past the pump, I got up early in the morning for the shot, I was not expecting the mist, and the light was just right.
Equipment
The shot was taken with an Olympus EPL 1 ( micro four thirds) with a 20mm f1.7 lens, shutter 1/50, and 6.3 aperture and ISO 200, no tripod but rested the camera on a fence
Inspiration
It looked like a possible landscape painting from Turner.
Editing
I used Lightroom and photomatix for the HDR, I know HDR can be controversial but I decided to do it to get the painting effect.
In my camera bag
I had limited equipment at the time, one camera and one lens, the 20mm f1.7 lumix lens is a magical and sharp lens.
Feedback
You need to be willing to get up early for the light and mood, I drive a lot and I am always looking for good composition. You always need to have a camera with you at all times.
