A really terrific shot. Love the colours, the lines and the fantastic clarity. A lot going on (and easily missed) for a small section of bridge.

Location
New York. This is Brooklyn side of the Manhattan bridge, a less-famous next-door neighbor of the iconic Brooklyn bridge, but beautiful in its own right.Time
This was taken late in the evening, as the sun was setting behind clouds.Lighting
Sunlight dispersed by the clouds provided the lighting.Equipment
As usual - handheld Pentax K-x with kit lens.Inspiration
I was taking a walk in the park and nearby neighborhood underneath both of the bridges and taking pictures of various sights. I particularly enjoyed how you can approach very close to the massive base of the bridge's supports and see the grace and complexity of the engineering behind it. I chose to attempt an HDR shot to be able to get detail of the underside of the bridge without turning the sky white.Editing
Definitely - this is an HDR photo, a product of blending three exposures. I spent a lot of time tweaking settings to give me just the right result - maximum detail and minimum artifacts. The end result you see here.In my camera bag
Pentax K-x camera, kit lens, telephoto, macro, and tilt-shift.Feedback
Finding a potential shot is fairly easy - get close to an imposing structure and look for the right angle to photograph it from. Taking the HDR shot is a bit harder - bright daylight can make getting the right exposure difficult due to the very high difference in brightness between areas of the photo, and if it's too dark then a tripod (and plenty of time) is a must. The hardest part, though, is processing. Don't be afraid to play with every available setting to try to get the result you want - you might have to go through a large number of combinations to narrow down the best one.
