This photo, entitled 'Last train before the North Pole', was shot in the Norwegian section of the North Pole: Svalbard / Spitzberg,Time
It was a summer afternoon, the air was crisp, the sky was cloudless, on the fields there were patches of grass, with delicate arctic flowers, the mountains showed part of their grey nakedness and the water was crystal clear. From May to October, take your photos either at sunrise, early afternoon or at twilight - here morning, noon and night become misnomers, specially at the heart of summer, which is the time of the midnight sun -, to catch the palette of colors, changing like in a fairy tale. In winter you may chance upon the northern lights which are magical, but days are so short, as to be nonexistent.Equipment

Go there as soon as you can, to admire the magnificence of the North Pole, a region becoming more and more endangered as huge amounts of oil and gas are being pumped out and discovered. The permafrost is being depleted and where once boats couldn't reach the region, cruise ships are vying for touristic trophies.
