I took this photo underneath the George Washington Bridge in NYC when I lived close to it several years ago.Time
I was heading back to my apartment from an impromptu mid-afternoon walk along the Hudson River. I stopped to rest under the bridge before tackling the "uphill" part of the walk home home, and this view caught my eye, and I decided to snap a photo.Lighting
Mid-day lighting. Kind of harsh, so I desaturated.Equipment
I used my Canon T2i.Inspiration
I used to live a few blocks away from this bridge. I could see the upper part of it from my apartment. A friend let me know that at the end of my block there was a path that would lead me underneath the bridge. When I ventured down that path, I was stunned by the lines of the architeEditing
I desaturated this photo because it was mid-afternoon lighting, and it didn't seem like anything special. When I desaturated, it felt like an old postcard and I personally like the edit.In my camera bag
Sadly this is an old shot, and I don't get out very often these days with my camera. I used to carry my camera, spare batteries, filters, memory cards, and a remote for those occasions when I had my tripod with me.Feedback
My advice is always the same. Take time to slow down, and really look at what is around you. There are unique angles, lighting, and objects all around us. Look up, stoop down, be inquisitive. Snap photos of what interests you.
