Location
I love exploring new places. I’ve always loved lakes, watersports and striking reflections so was delighted to find such an inviting lake in Whitlingham Country Park near Norwich, Norfolk, UK - I decided I’d return one day to try out Paddleboarding there.Time
I took this photo at 5.20pm on 3 August 2022 and was feeling tired from all my walking. 45 minutes earlier it had looked like rain was on its way, and 10 minutes later the clouds were again showing signs of impending rain. It never did rain while I was out.Lighting
I used no filters and made no adjustments to what I could see through the lens. The bright late afternoon sunlight, the blueness of the sky and the soft white clouds created a depth that is accentuated in the reflection, which helps to draw you in. ISO 25, 26m, 0ev, f1.8, 1/1953sEquipment

The lighting and depth of colour in the sky contrasting with the whiteness of the clouds all mirrored in the gently rippling water was an image I wanted to capture. Not to mention the colours in the boats and the trees and bushes. This was the third and best of four photos I took. I also liked the layers of colour in the reflection.Editing
No, none at all. It wasn’t necessary. In my camera bag

Rule of thirds and within the thirds, look for more thirds - I think this helped me to find the perfect photo. Feel into the image and let your love for it show in your photograph.
