Location
This photo was taken in the front room of my home where there is a big window and a huge Philodendron plant placed.Time
This is a favorite photo of mine because normally my cat doesn't go in that corner and he'll sit on the cabinet near by but not that morning. It was January 16, 2021 at about 11:30 in the morning, so the sun was in the perfect spot to come into that big window. Walking around the corner and seeing my cat sitting there all I could think about was the his grey fur and his already green eyes that looked amazing with the beautiful green of the Philodendron plant named Fred.Lighting
I wanted this photo to look light but captivating since he had the light colored fur and his beautiful green eyes. So with the way the light was hitting not only him but also making the leaves brighter I thought there was nothing else better to do than get the photo to look light and airy with the brighter look (but not to bright) but also captivating with the grey compared to the light green.Equipment
This was shot on a Nikon D3500 camera, with 18-55 mm lens. No other equipment was used.Inspiration
This photo wasn't originally planned out. It was only taken because my cat jumped into the window sill right behind my Philodendron plant and I was trying to get him out because he doesn't normally go back there. Once I had gotten a good look at him from a certain angle to trying get him to look at me, I saw how he looked with the sun and how his eyes popped more surrounded by the green, I had ran to get my camera and took pictures before he decided he didn't want to be there anymore.Editing
With this photo I only had developed the raw image once to get a better correction with the white balance, and then just either darken or lighten certain areas around the image to get the look I wanted. In my camera bag
In my bag I always have my two cameras to begin with. My Nikon Coolpix P520 camera and my Nikon D3500 body. I then have my AF-P DX NIKKOR 18–55mm f/3.5–5.6G VR and AF-P DX NIKKOR 70–300mm f/4.5–6.3G ED lens. I also have my Vivitar SF-4000 flash extension, a wide angle lens , macro lens and 2.2X high definition telephoto zoom lens. Vivitar close-up macro lenses and multi-coated filter kit.Feedback
Since this was a really in that one moment kind of photo doesn't mean that it won't happen with any other animal, but if you see something similar to this moment just make sure to be quiet so you don't scare the creature you're trying to capture and move to different angles to try to the find the sweet spot that you are looking for.
