Location
I took this photo in my mothers garden, she has an amazing backyard full of plants, in Córdoba, Argentina.Time
it was around 11 AM, it was one of the last pictures we took that morning.Lighting
it was only the sun, all natural, I wanted to use it all in my favor, because in the first place it was only me and the model, no extra help, so to make the best of it I decided to keep it simple.Equipment
I used a Canon 6D with a 50mm lens. No tripod, no flash, nor anything else.Inspiration
We were having a shooting for a philosophy online magazine, INTERSTICIOS, and that number was about Racism, Negritude and Gender: Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean. Both of us made a brainstorm of ideas we had on mind and tried several positions, with different accessories, and places around the garden. This wasn't the picture selected for the cover but it was one of my favorites from the session. If you want to check the magazine and cover its here https://revistas.unc.edu.ar/index.php/intersticios/issue/view/1929Editing
I always use Lightroom firstly for some digital development and then, with this picture only small color and eye brightness retouches with Photoshop. In my camera bag
I always carry my Canon 6D with its 24-105mm and a 50mm 1.4, the cleaning pack, several memory cards, batteries and charger. Those are the basics, but if I'm doing some street or nature photography I take my 300mm lens to have more flexibility. I only have a flash with me if I know I'll need it, and almost never a tripod.Feedback
What I think it its the key to make portraits, and not only me, its to connect with the model, or who ever are you taking the picture, to make a confortable scenario for them and treat them gently, so yo can capture what you have in mind or even something better and both of you have a good time. Even if you are paying them, always remember to be kind.
