The photo was taken on a cold morning in Caldas das Taipas in Guimarães. As I am an amateur photographer, I try to make the most of every photo shoot I do.Time
I got up early enough to take advantage of the morning fog over the river. Luckily I was not the only one to do it because I had the opportunity to capture the photo with an early hiker who also enjoys the peace of a beautiful sunrise. It was taken on February 2020 at 7:51 AMLighting
The morning fog is something I have always liked because it creates a very special atmosphere, something mysterious and also peaceful in some way. The sky was crystal clear, a perfect morning for a beautiful sunrise. The light was just fantastic cutting through the trees to the water creating a stunning atmosphere.Equipment
It was taken with a Canon 800D, with a Canon 18-135mm 1: 3.5-5.6 IS STM lens and a Cullman Primax 380 tripod. No other equipment was used.Inspiration
As I said, the morning fog over water has always been very appealing to me. I always wanted to take photos that captured the morning atmosphere created by the fog over the water. The river is still some distance from my house but it is worth getting up at around 6:00 AM and going for a walk to the river's edge because, even though it is the same area, there are always some days when the light is simply magic and sometimes we can do "that capture".Editing
I didn't use much post-processing. Just a few touches (minimal) in contrast, highlights, shadows, white and black. It was also necessary to remove the chromatic aberration and load the correction profile for the lens that I used. Basically this was everything I did in this photo. In my camera bag
As I don't have a lot of photographic material, whenever I do a photo shoot I always carry all my material that consists of a Canon 800D body, a Canon 18-135mm 1: 3.5-5.6 IS STM lens, a Canon 50mm 1: 1.8 STM lens and a Cullman Primax 380 tripod. I try to make the best use of the material I have at the moment...Feedback
With the pandemic crisis we are experiencing, everything has become a little more complicated. The trips are more limited but I have taken the time to plan some projects for the future because we will certainly be able to overcome this pandemic and then, I will certainly try to achieve some of the projects that I have imagined. Time and patience are always necessary if we want to take good photos.
