Location
This was shot in a studio in the downtown Los Angeles Fashion District. It had several standing sets.Time
This image was shot in the late afternoon.Lighting
This photo was taken with available light that was filling the studio through many windows.Equipment
I used a handheld Nikon D7500 with 18mm - 140mm F 3.5-5.6 Nikkor lens. The camera was set to ASA 800.Inspiration
Shelby is a wonderful, very experienced model who is a true muse. She makes magic in front of the camera. I had her put on the flowing white gown and strong lipstick. I brushed her damp hair straight back. We had just been shooting in a shower before this.Editing
I warmed up the light and adjusted exposure in Camera Raw. I then did a standard retouching of removing blemishes and moles (Shelby has very good skin with few issues. The main adjustments I made were in vignetting and darkening the background. I did enhance her eyes as well.In my camera bag
In addition to my Nikon and 18mm-140mm lens, I have a Tokina 12mm-24mm F4 wide angle zoom. I carry polarizing filters, split neutral density filters, batteries and charger, spare data cards, a small reflector, a flashlight, a Swiss Army knife, lens cleaning fluid and tissues, a micro fiber lens wipe, and most importantly the camera manual in case I forget how to do anything!Feedback
Find a wonderful model like Shelby who connects with you and can model the way you like. Then style the model, decorate the set if necessary (Shelby is sitting on a small basket), and adjust the lighting as you see fit. Put your model at ease and start firing away.
