Location
I took this photo at the Conowingo dam in Maryland. I had been here a couple of times and I just happen to pick a good day to be there. The eagles were out flying and hunting for food. I took over a thousand pictures that day and I was lucky enough to get this shot.Time
I took this photo probably around noon time. I got up early to drive the 1 1/2 hours to the dam and I knew I wanted to stay most of the day. It’s such a great place especially for eagle lovers. There are other great photo opportunities there too for other birds and fish. But the eagles are my favorite.Lighting
All natural lighting as it was daylight. And shooting toward the sky on this beautiful day there was no need for any extra lighting.Equipment
I used my D750 Nikon camera with a tamron 150-600mm G2 lens. I didn’t have my tripod with me I just propped my arms on a picnic table best I could.Inspiration
Oh my goodness. We had drove through this place before not knowing what was there, just thought it was a dam. Our second time driving through though I noticed a couple of white spots in trees along side the side of the dam. On our way back through I looked again and seen it, was what looked like eagles! What?! So there’s a visitor center on the other side of the dam and I told my husband to stop and let’s look around. Come to find out it’s a place where eagles migrate! And just so you know, I love eagles! They told us about a fisherman’s park down the road where people go and watch, photograph and admire these beautiful birds. So of course we go. And to my amazement there were hundreds and I’m not lying hundreds of eagles flying and lining the trees along the river. I was like a kid at Christmas! I think my husband thought I would never leave, lol.Editing
N/AIn my camera bag
In my bag I usually keep of course my camera, portrait, zoom, all in one lens and just your normal stuff, battery, chargers, memory cards etc.Feedback
Oh my, if you're anywhere close to Conowingo dam in Maryland you have to go see this place! Even if you just have your cell phone to take pictures. It’s so breathtaking to see an eagle fly and catch fish. Freedom at its best!
