Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken on Snowdon the highest mountain in Wales

Time

This was taken approximately 3 hours before sunrise about 3.30am

Lighting

I was blessed with clear skies and no moon which made this shot a pleasure to shoot . Utter darkness was the only way to shoot it No lightning only the shimmer of the stars

Equipment

My set up was a Nikon nikkor 24-70mm f2.8 lens Manfrotto tripod Cheap trigger release

Inspiration

My love for the night sky has been with me from the first time my father took me night fishing off the coast of Anglesey as we fished (not catching ) He would point out the constellations in the sky too me

Editing

This was a bit of a nightmare to edit as it was 37 vertical shots ,so equipped with a old computer and Lightroom and Photoshop i managed to stitch the shot in about 6 hours .

In my camera bag

These days i carry a nikon D810 with a 14mm-24mm f2.8 lens Nikon 70-200mm f2.8 Nikon 24-70mm f2.8 lens Plenty of coffee . Energy drinks and a harmonica that ive just started to learn to play badly

Feedback

To be honest the title of this shot was a testament to my self as the title says Never give up . Shots like this only come around every so often as weather conditions can drastically change in the mountains . This was the 5th attempt for me to climb up the mountain with 35kg of gear on my back so yeah my advice would be never give up no matter how frustrating it gets
