This photo was taken down at my local beach one night, when we were treated to a light show with very little rain. It was my first attempt at capturing lightning.Time
This was early evening, not long after dark. I'd been watching the clouds rumble and thicken throughout the afternoon so as soon as the light conditions became favourable I headed for the coast.Lighting
This is a 6 image stack, which really brought out the blue and the purple from the electricity in the air.Equipment
I love my Canon 6d, with my go-to 24-70mm lens. A tripod and camera trigger were essential!Inspiration
I've seen some jaw-dropping shots from storm chasers, and always wanted to try to capture lightning. This storm gave me a fabulous opportunity to try!Editing
The individual lightning shots were nothing special, so I decided to try stacking some images to see what would happen - this is 6 images. Then I played a little with the highlights/colour.In my camera bag
A spare battery! My 24-70mm lives on my camera, and I always pack a microfiber cloth and insect spray!Feedback
Just get out there and try, try, try! There is a wealth of information at your fingertips to help with settings (Google is my best friend), and the power of digital is that 'delete' button!
