This photo was taken on the street my best friend grew up on. It's amazing the things that you come across, even in the city, if you just open your eyes.Time
I love this photo. I was going through a tough time in my life, and my best friend insisted that we take a walk with our cameras, as a way to practice some self-care. I remember it was afternoon and half-way through our walk we ended up huddled together on the porch of a business because it rained. This photo was taken after the storm, on our way back to her house.Lighting
Honestly, I didn't do anything special. It had just rained, and the sun was breaking through the clouds.Equipment
Nikon Coolpix P500. No other equipment.Inspiration
I was in a really dark place in my life. We had just had a house fire and lost most of our material possessions. A close friend of mine insisted that we take a walk with our cameras, trying to help me take my mind off of the things that were going on in my life and do something that I enjoy. We must have walked around for hours, just taking photos of people's gardens. About halfway through we got stuck in a sudden rain-storm, and ended up huddled together on a local business's porch to wait out the storm. It only lasted a half-hour, and we were off again, more photos to be taken. This one was taken on the way back to her house. One of the last few of the day, and I'm not sure what made me stop to take this photo, maybe the way the sunlight, emerged from the clouds to make the tulip glow. No matter what the cause, I'm glad I stopped to take this photo, as it's one of my favorites.Editing
This photo wasn't processed at all, except for being cropped. There was a random flower stem on the side of the photo that I didn't like.In my camera bag
Back then, my bag consisted of my Nikon P500, two extra batteries, microfiber cloths to clean my lens if needed, and also some lens cleaning spray for oily finger-prints. Currently, my bag contains all the same, except, I updated my camera to a P900, and I also carry my tripod with me, (I couldn't afford an actual bag for my tripod, so I bought a $5 bag for a yoga mat to use.)Feedback
My only advice to other budding photographers. Keep your eyes open, remember no one sees the same as you, then show us what you saw. Thank you for this opportunity.
