On Montezuma Beach, Costa Rica, a newly hatched Olive Ridley sea turtle makes the journey to the sea under the protection of volunteers such as myself. The incubation period of sea turtles is approximately 5 weeks. Turtles face extinction due to natural predators, such as raccoons; and human impact. Waste in the oceans and on the beaches, light pollution, and poachers are all dangers to the sea turtles.
