It was a studio assignment for my photography BA in Llandrillo College North Wales.Time
As it was a studio set up, time was irrelevant as I created the lighting and atmosphere.Lighting
I used two soft boxes one to the left of my position in front of the model, and one Pointing directly at the models face.Equipment
Nikon d850 and a 24-70 2.8 Pair of soft boxes and lights, Studio back dropInspiration
I like experimenting using photography, if there is an element of surprise and originality. There was not any real photographer inspiration image wise, But dropping chicken in flour making my own southern fried chicken I suppose was the inspiration for including flour, it went everywhere but created aesthetically interesting shapes. When planning this shot initially the model and the bodily presence he had was the important factor, that bit I could plan, the effect the flour created I had no control, ironically this was the third shot I took, and decided right I have it I don’t need any moreEditing
Converted it to mono, brought up some of the shadows and highlights and sharpened. In my camera bag
Now I’m a Sony convert A7iii and 50mm1.8 are my go to daily set up, light and small, I love my a7riii and 90mm Sony 2.8 macro combination Wow and if I had to pick one more bit of kit it would be the Sony 100-400 f4 this lense blows me away every time I use it.Feedback
Suppose planning on shots like this, if you have an idea then it’s achievable, but overall I think the best advice is love what you do, photography is an amazing adventure that produces every emotion x
