The photo was captured in Wisconsin's Pewit's Nest state natural area in fall. I arrived at the parking lot right before sunrise, and was extremely surprised to see four cars had already been there. I walked to the lower falls and found lots of leaves were gone even if their color hadn't turned red yet. A couple of photographers past me and rushed to the more popular upper falls. I walked along the creek and found a fallen down log that was not usually there, and it partially blocked the stream, leading to a small "harbor" with its diameter about 30 cm. Occasionally, a few leaves drifted from the upper stream could be trapped here and performed amazing dance with the water swirl. Nothing could be a better foreground like this! In order to get the perspective I want, I set up the tripod so that the wide-angle lens was very close to the swirl and tilted the lens downward to exaggerate the size of the foreground. A 3-stop ND + a CPL were combined to achieve the shutter speed, while focus stack was used to achieve large depth field.
