Behind The Lens

Location

In the Blue Mountains, NSW

Time

late afternoon about 5pm

Lighting

I tried to find a good balance between lighting the tree, getting the bubble in focus, and having a good bokeh from the rest of the tree behind it.

Equipment

Canon 700D handheld

Inspiration

It was mid-December and one of the kids were playing with bubbles while we were bushwalking.. I started taking snaps and noticed that one of the pics reminded me of a Christmas tree, then staged the shot you see here.

Editing

Just a little touch up of the raw photo in Lightroom to adjust the balance of lighting in the foreground/background to make it pop! (pun intended)

In my camera bag

I normally have my two kit lenses covering 18-250mm zoom, an 8mm wide-angle lens, carbon fibre traveller's tripod, circular polariser, ND filters. When doing nature photography I have a bigma (Sigma 50-500mm zoom lens).

Feedback

This particular shot was about getting the settings right for the tree right first, then blowing bubbles and waiting for right time to hit the shutter :)
