Great picture! I have some photos of Aldeyjarfoss taken few days before or after this one. I grew up on a farm nearby and I take photographers very often to this location ( kip.is)

So beautifully creative...the appearance of an explosion of water spreading outward at bottom of falls...superb framing and capture. Where is this located?

Location
This shot was taken in Northern Iceland at Aldeyarfoss. The falls during the winter is only accessible by super jeep and it was a little walk down the hill in knee deep snow to the falls.Time
This was taken just after sunrise.Lighting
Because the day light hours are so short in Iceland during the winter the sun stays very low on the horizon creating beautiful soft light most of the day. When the weather is clear and the clouds come out to play you can get some very nice shots. The weather changes so frequently in Iceland so you have to be prepared for anything.Equipment
This was taken with a Canon 5d mark iii and a Canon 16-35. I also used a 8 stop neutral density filter to help get a longer exposure.Inspiration
This waterfall was very impressive and powerful.I wanted to nice soft image to show the movement of the falls. It was like a winter wonderland, the fresh snow and untouched landscape made for a great picture! And even better I had the whole scene to myself!Editing
Not much processing was done, some contrast and highlight adjustments and a little saturation but not much. The place is a natural beauty. In my camera bag
Usually I carry my super wide 16-35, a 24-105 for overall purposes and just in case I carry around my 100-400 should some wildlife show up on my travels.Feedback
Just make sure you get out there in a super jeep, we had to stop and pull a car out of the snow because he got stuck. There's no one out there so if you get stuck by yourself it could be a very long time before anyone passes by and the nearest town is quite a far walk away.
