Location
This old truck sits on the back property of our home on Anderson Island, WA. It was placed there over 40 years ago by my husband, who actually had it running for a time back in the day.Time
I shot this particular photo mid-day in early summer, before the ferns died down. Being in a heavily shaded area, the sun was high enough to illuminate the background brush and trees.Lighting
The natural lighting in this shaded area is perfect. Many photos/portraits of people have been taken with this truck over the years with little or no adjustment. It's a treasure to be sure to have such great natural lighting and with different effects at different times of day and seasons of the year.Equipment
Nikon D33 with Nikkor lens 24-120 mm, handheld.Inspiration
When it's in your backyard, it's hard not to take photos of it. I actually wanted to hulk this truck when cleaning up the property, but the neighbors talked me out it. They are all quite fond of it. They inspired me to take photos of it when I was just beginning to learn my camera and my eye. So, we left it there, and it is always a learning experience to photograph it at different times.Editing
The only post-processing I did was for clarity. In my camera bag
My Nikon D33, NIkor lens 24-120 (excellent lens!), Nikon 55-300 lens. I don't have a lot of equipment but what I have does what I need for now.Feedback
If you find a spot with such great natural lighting, you are lucky. Play with it! Use different lenses, different settings, different angles, any time of year, any weather. Make it the learning experience it has been for me.
