Location
I decided to take a drive until I found some open fields and a gravel road. I wanted to take a photo of my beautiful children celebrating freedom. I found this location just outside the Quad Cities.Time
This photo was taken close to sunset on a beautiful summer evening.Lighting
The sun was behind my subjects. I slightly underexposed this image and lightened up my subjects in post-processing.Equipment
This shot was taken with a Canon Rebel T3i. I used my 85mm lens. This was so hard to capture! My toddler was a hot mess! A big thanks to my friend Kelli for helping me with this shot.Inspiration
I wanted a beautiful photo to share on my Facebook business page for the 4th of July. I knew I wanted an open field but didn't have one in mind. I seriously just drove until I found a spot a liked! I still can't believe they are both smiling and looking at me with the flag perfectly draped over them!Editing
Yes! That is half the fun! I used the curves tool in Photoshop to enhance this photo. I also used the sponge tool to enhance the colors. In my camera bag
My equipment is not fancy, I use a Canon Rebel T3i. I want to upgrade but haven't found a body that I like yet. I also don't want one that is going to cost me a fortune. I love prime lens, so I have a good variety in my bag including an (85mm, 50mm, 35mm, and 10-18mm) lens.Feedback
Don't over think it. Pay attention to your settings as you go (light changes quickly close to sunset). This is your art, so capture what you feel is beautiful. And remember, rules are meant to be broken!
