I thought I would post this photo that I have always found very endearing. This was taken a few years ago at the Gateway Mall (downtown Salt Lake City) during the fourth of July weekend. This little guy was very smartly dressed and coiffed, and his Mami had told him he could not play in the water and get wet. Although he was clearly yearning to join the other boys in the fountain fun, he nevertheless kept his American pride showing strong. In light of so much anti-immigration fever, I thought it was nice to see a young latino boy and his parents (who appeared to be relatively recent immigrants) exhibiting celebratory American spirit.
