Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at a theater stage to promote a musical

Time

it was at night, but since it is an indoor work, it does'nt matter,

Lighting

I used two strobes.The main light about 30º to my right at full power and the second strobe, that lights her right shoulder and hair at 2/3 of its power 90º to my left. The shadows at her right cheek were really important to create some drama.

Equipment

canon 5Dmk ii, 24-105L, handheld, 2 400W bowens strobes.

Inspiration

The name of the musical we were promoting is Cinza or Ash, in portuguese, so, after some research it felt right to create a beautiful image.

Editing

The original photo is pretty much what you see. I just enhanced some highlights and copied some of the smokiness from other picture to fill the entire frame.

In my camera bag

canon 5d mkii, canon 70d, sony a7sii canon 50mm f1.4, 24-105 f4, 70-200 f2.8, sigma's 35mm f1.4 (great lens) , metabones for e-mount, sony alpha 16-35 f2.8 lens

Feedback

the light itself is not that difficult to achieve. The problem is to throw flour at the model's face and capture the moment before it hits her eyes. She must hold a pretty face and eyes opened until the last moment.
