It was simply a case of being there at the right time and place, normally you have people all over the beach at sunset.Editing
The image was processed in photoshop with some adjustment to the white balance to slightly warm the sky and also bring out more of the reflection on the beachIn my camera bag

In many cases images are just a case of being in the right place at the right time, You can however plan shots like this in the hope the weather will be co operative, Composition and angles play a great deal in having an image look right. If you are in doubt about the correct exposure you can expose for the sky and bring the shadows up in post processing , or you could bracket a series of shots
