Behind The Lens

Location

I took my photo on the grounds of Hofstra University, I believe; we'd all just finished an orientation event, and I passed by an arched doorway. I stopped to take a photograph right then, being careful with how I angled my phone. I'd actually forgotten if there was glass or a mirror involved. In a way, it spooks me out today, knowing I no longer can accurately even recall how I took the photo to begin with.

Time

This was during the evening time, in the summer. It was probably at 7 PM when I took the photo.

Lighting

Yes, I wanted my photo to be mysterious and haunting at once- I wanted my body shape and persona to be saved in a ghostly area, as I'd always been fascinated and scared by the idea of olden buildings without stories.

Equipment

I used my Nokia Nuron's camera, way back in 2012.

Inspiration

I was inspired by feeling like a ghost; as someone who didn't belong on the campus I was on, but yet could still in some way empathize with beautiful but overlooked architecture, even with details as small as an arched doorway or window.

Editing

No. This photo required no processing at all. I hadn't used filters, nor anything else like that to my memory.

In my camera bag

I normally just carry pens and notes with me. I'm a very hands on, minimalist person who started my first into photography with my cellphone, freshly graduated from highschool and looking to retain a craft I'd learned while navigating a harsh acedemic world.

Feedback

Embrace your difference, and embrace the loneliness you feel; dont try to alienate it from yourself, just own the moment and your feelings that come from it.
