The Afrikaans Language Monument is located on a hill overlooking Paarl, Western Cape Province, South Africa. Officially opened on 10 October 1975, it commemorates the semicentenary of Afrikaans being declared an official language of South Africa separate from Dutch.

Time

This was late morning over a weekend.

Lighting

I liked how the lighting shines through the holes when I looked up.

Equipment

I used my cellphone. When I took this one is had a Sony Xperia Z10 with a 64mp camera. I use a better phone now with a 108mp camera.

Inspiration

The lighting when looking up and the sound of the water below.

Editing

I slightly lightened the shadows of this photo as it was a bit dark.

In my camera bag

Just my cellphone and a bottle of water for drinking, my husband goes with me and we take photos together when site seeing.
