This photo of a male house finch was taken in my backyard in Arkansas. I was sitting on my deck.Time
It was taken in late afternoon near the end of June.Lighting
The light from the low sun is great for shooting birds.Equipment
I have, in the past, had DSLRs and prime lenses, but I'm old now (81) and am having a lot of fun with bridge cams, which are lighter and more affordable. I was hand-holding my Nikon P1000, watching birds.Inspiration
This house finch in the maple tree caught my eye and he saw me, too.Editing
Processing was done with Adobe Photoshop Elements. In my camera bag
Since I'm now a full-time caregiver and my photo opportunities are mostly limited to the backyard, my three bridge cams and any associated accessories I might need (Raynox, monopod) are close at hand.Feedback
Bird photography, especially that of small birds, requires great patience. Many days I have sat for hours with no keepers, but sometimes the best shot happens when I'm ready to leave, as did this one.
