Behind The Lens

Location

This pregnancy portrait of Malice was taken in The Portrait Studio, my own small studio. I'm a Portrait photographer, educated by the great Sue Bryce.

Time

The photo was taken around 11 in the morning.

Lighting

I shoot all my portraits with daylight only, It is the most beautiful light there is.

Equipment

This portrait was shot with a Canon 5d mark iii and a Sigma 50 mm 1.4, the light was reflected with a V-flat.

Inspiration

I love making pregnancy portraits! This moment where women expecting new life and there body is on the most beautiful point 30 - 34 weeks), and showing them how beautiful they are makes it a really great job.

Editing

The post-proces: cleaning up skin (not overdoing!) and clothes, removing flyways, adding highlights in the hair and eyes.

In my camera bag

Only the 5D mark iii, an Sigma 50mm. 1.4 and the Sigma 30mm 1.4.

Feedback

Don't think you need to buy lights before you can shoot portraits, daylight is enough to make beautiful shots! Defuse the light with a thin curtain, reflect the light whit V-flats (reflection screen) and get (make) a backdrop (painted mine myself, in a dark grey) And... the best photo's are not about the best (and most expensive) equipment, It's about you're mind!
