Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken in our yard.

Time

It was about mid morning.

Lighting

The trees in the yard provided ample shade in the yard. Since the filtered sunlight comes only from one direction, I opted to use a reflector to illuminate the darkest part of the subject.

Equipment

For this photo, I used the Nikon D7000, Nikkor 85mm f/1.8, Nikon MC-DC2 Remote Release Cord, and my Manfrotto 055 XPRO.

Inspiration

I've always been fascinated how some photographers shoot flowers or plants. Out of boredom during the pandemic, I decided to try out my skills and what little I learned about shooting subjects. I wasn't expecting the outcome to be this amazing.

Editing

Post-processing was done using Lightroom.

In my camera bag

I carry a D750, a Nikkor 35mm f/1.8, a Nikkor 85mm f/1.8., a Nikon remote trigger, and a Manfrotto tripod. I some cases, I also include my travel lens, Nikkor 18-300mm.

Feedback

If there's something in photography that you haven't tried out, as long as you have the gears to produce them, find the time and try it out.
