Behind The Lens

Location

I am lucky to live near a forest and a mountain. This photo was taken in a place that is very close to home in the town of Kyustendil, Bulgaria, so I know him well and love him very much.

Time

The photo was taken on a November morning. It was quite cold and foggy, but that didn't stop me from my usual walk. In fact, I love to shoot when there is fog, because it gives mystery and a different charm to the photos.

Lighting

The photo was taken only with the help of natural light, which made its way through the crowns of trees and fog.

Equipment

The photo was taken with a Nikon D3200, with an 18/55 lens. No other equipment was involved.

Inspiration

I like to walk in this forest, alone, at any time of the year and to cover again and again. I perceive it as a huge separate living organism and I want to show its character. In the fog she looks mysterious and mystical. To emphasize this, I shot from a very low position so that the tops of the trees get lost in the heights.

Editing

I decided that this photo would be more suitable for her to be black and white and I did that. I used lighting masks by deliberately darkening the bottom of the photo.

In my camera bag

I have three Nikon cameras. One of them is always with me.

Of course, it's nice when we have prepared and planned the photos in advance, but this is not always possible.
