Location
I was working at a hospital in Doha, Qatar, which afforded me opportunities to see and photograph architectural structures that were different than what I might come upon in the US. This shot was of a covered walkway (needed protection from the blistering heat) outside of the hospital.Time
This shot was taken in the early afternoon, after I got off of work. I had spied the arches days before during the day but decided to take the picture when the sun was slightly lower, and not over head, to obtain the shadows you see in the picture.Lighting
The light in this area of the world complements the heat - both are quite strong. But by directing the light (actually, the light wasn't moving as much as I moved to obtain the shadow effects) I was able to obtain a much more interesting picture.Equipment
This foto was pre-digital age, so I was using a Nikon FM3 with a 105mm Nikor lens.Inspiration
I loved the way the light and shadows played off the arches (ceiling and posts), and the walkway, providing multiple shades of the sand and tan..Editing
I printed the picture and years later scanned it. I then used Photoshop Elements to remove haze and adjust the tone.In my camera bag
I carry two (2) Nikon D7100's, one usually coupled with my Tamron 70-200 mm F2.8 lens and the other with a Sigma 18-200 mm F3.5-6.3 lens. I also carry a Nikor 85mm F1.8 prime lens and a Nikor 35-70mm F2.8 lens. And lastly a Tokina SD 11-16 mm F2.8 lens. I also have a diffuser for my cameras' built in flash, and a NiSi 100 mm Filter kit.Feedback
