Location
The photo was taken in a Natural Park in central capital of Portugal, Lisbon.Time
I remember that I had a large lunch break so since I had some free time, I grabbed my camera and went shooting... This was taken in July 2, 2007 at 12:11 PM.Lighting
I struggled a bit with the direct sunlight because of the time I took this photo but it was the only time available that I had, so my advice is to not shoot at this time of the day, always shoot at sunrise or sunset, the light is so much better.Equipment
This was shoot with a Canon 400D and a Canon EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS USM. No other equipment was involved.Inspiration
Well, in this case it wasn't anything planned, was something of the moment that caught my attention by this little duckling. I love ducklings and they often are wondering at the grass and in the lake in this Natural Park in Lisbon, so I went there to lay on the grass and see if I could get some luck.Editing
Since it was around 12:00 PM and it was a very strong light the colors weren't that good, this shot didn't caught those yellows and greens so intensively as I wish for and the contrast wasn't that good either so, I did some corrections to the levels and contrast and then applied a hdr filter from Nyk collection in Photoshop to be able to catch the full spectrum of colors. In my camera bag
In my bag now I have a Canon 30D, a Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM, a Canon EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS USM, a Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L IS USM and a MTL 9251B Giottos Tripod.Feedback
The best advice that I can give is that you should always carry your camera with you, even if it isn't your main camera, can be a small pocket camera like I did in this case or a cellphone with a good camera, rather have one small camera than don't have any and miss a good photo, not all photos have to be planned, sometimes you can go with the moment and improvise which brings me to the second advice, always pay attention to little details.
