Location
This image was taken in Southern Iceland. The mountain range is known by the name Vestrahorn.Time
The image was taken before noon. We originally went there in the morning for sunrise, but the fog was so thick that you didn't see anything of the mountains. We went back to our place to have breakfast and tried it again afterwards. When we got back we were stunned that the whole area was clear and so calm.Lighting
The light wasn't the best but we were happy to at least see the mountains. The star in this image is the mountain range and its reflectection. I don't mind that there's not any light on the mountains because it makes the image simpler and pushes the minimal effect.Equipment
This 9 image panorama was taken with a Nikon D750 and a tripod. The lens was the 24-70mm 2.8.Inspiration
We knew about this place before and were very excited to finally see it by ourselves. When we arrived the composition was a given by the perfect reflection. There ware so many different opportunities in this area, but I went for the minimal approach with no foreground.Editing
The standard way – basic settings in Lightroom and post-processing in Photoshop. Getting the colors right, clean up the image, dodging and burning and sharpening. In my camera bag
We have 2 Cameras, a Nikon D750 and a D7200. We usually have a wide, a mid-range zoom and a telephoto lens. Tripods are a must and we often use some ND-Filters.Feedback
Never give up on the first try. Come back to places and get the right conditions. A good image doesn't need the best light, so adapt to the conditions given.
