These two neighboring nebulae are located within the constellation Orion and are approximately 1,500 light years from Earth. The Horsehead is considered a 'dark' nebula, which is an interstellar cloud that is so dense as to obscure the light behind it. The Flame Nebula is an emission nebula, which emits its own light due to the radiation given off by young stars. This image was captured with a camera made to work with telescopes to photograph deep sky objects.
