Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo of our adorable and friendly kitty one day when I was photographing some spring flowers in a huge outdoor planter. She loves it when I am taking photos and always tries to get in them. She started walking around the top flat edge of the planter trying to get into my flower photos! She started nudging my hand while I knelt down to get a closer shot of a particularly pretty flower. She sat perfectly still until I took a shot of her, then continued strutting around the top of the planter! That is how lovable shot came to be! :o)

Time

This is one of my favorite photos because our kitty is so photogenic, which is not what I expected. I thought she would not stand still long enough to focus the camera, let alone get such a clear shot of her beautiful eyes! The shot was taken in the late afternoon at approximately 3:30 pm.

Lighting

I wanted the light to be all natural light that just showed the clear image of my curious kitty and her beautiful eyes.

Equipment

I captured the image using my cell phone. It was set to capture images outdoors with no flash necessary.

Inspiration

My inspiration for this photo was spontaneous, unexpected and surprising. I did no preparation and was only taking photos of flowers. My cat sparked the special moment! Who knew cats loved getting their photos taken!

Editing

I had absolutely no post-processing issues. I transferred the shot to my storage drive location, then uploaded it to my viewing account.

In my camera bag

I always have my cell phone with 21mpixels ready to capture an unexpected moment to save for memories. I also keep my Sony A10 camera ready and waiting.

Feedback

My advice is always be ready for any surprising moment. You never know what will present itself and provide you with an artistic surprise. I capture moments of natural beauty like spring flowers and summer roses, cute animal moments, and striking landscape and mountain views. Be ready to capture those moments that strike an emotional and surprising feeling for you and those that view your photos!
