Location
The photo was taken in Levanto , Liguria. A little town where I liveTime
the picture was taken in the golden hour ,near the sunset. this is probably the best moment to catch a photo like this, because the sun is right behind the wave, and with clean water you can see the the sun trough it!Lighting
Golden hour is the perfect time to take photos in the water, especially when the blue clouds help me to create more contrast with the red sun behind the wave. i have chosen 800 iso and I have set up my camera in time priority at 1\640 with fisheye lens canon 10-22 f3,5 trying to stop the waterEquipment
this was taken with my canon 7d mark2 with canon lens 10\22 f 3,5 5,6 and Nimar camera housingInspiration
My favorite wave photographer is Ray Collins . looking at his photographs of waves and details of the sea makes me want to get better then him.Editing
yes I did, normally I search for the best light so that I don't have to post-product anything. In this case I used post-production to make a bigger contrast between the red sun and the blue clouds. In my camera bag
In my bag I have : canon 7dmark2 , canon 5ds and Nimar camera housing for both. lens : canon 24\105 f4 stabilized,canon10 \22 f 3,5 -5,6 and canon 100\400 f 4-5,6 next purchase is flash dedicate nimar camera housing for to take pictures at sea in the night!Feedback
For me the best advice is to use the light that inspire us (like sunrise, sunset or the blue hour). So get up early and buy yourself a warm wetsuit!
