Location
This photo was taken on a random country lane in the middle of countryside in the West Midlands. The road name is unknown since I got lost looking for the best place to shoot and ended up stumbling across it.Time
I remember waking up about 5am, so a little early, but it was worth every second in the end. It was a cold spring morning about 6am. After traveling for around 45 minutes trying to find the perfect spot, here it was. The lambs in the field next to it was bahing which alerted me to stop, so the scene was set. I had no tripod with me, so had to find the right settings before the shot was lost forever and the sun rose even more. This was taken on March 21st 2018 at 6amLighting
I pulled up with my camera whilst vlogging and as I looked down the country lane, the sun light just came beaming through the trees, lighting up the entire road. I knew it was a sign, the scene was so stunning and I just had to take a photo. I really wanted the lighting from the sun, to beam through the gap in the tree's creating a nice big sun flare, so angled the camera in various positions to create this. That coupled with the majestic golden glow, shining on the near by bushes and road topped it off nicely and gave it a magical feeling which is exactly what I wanted.Equipment
This was shot with a relatively older camera. Canon EOS 650D - no other equipment was used.Inspiration
I was out vlogging in the early morning, hoping to get some nice sunset time lapse videos so I parked up on the side of this country lane. It was nice and quiet and you could smell the cold spring air, along with the lambs in the nearby field making noises. As I looked and saw the sun rising behind a lone tree on the lane, it looked so stunning and i love sunset and sunrise photos I just knew that I had to capture it.Editing
I try not to over process my images. I prefer the more realistic look to my photos. However, I totally understand why it's done and it's something I am trying to get better at. On this particular image, I played around with the saturation a little bit, and added luminance to soften the image. In my camera bag
I try to keep my equipment minimal so I can travel further without dragging a massive heavy weight backpack. All I have in my bag is my old camera 650D, a small gorilla-pod, a 50mm 1.8 prime lens , an 55-250mm lens and the 18-55mm kit lens that came with this camera with. It's not my favorite lens, but this was the lens I used to shoot this image with and if you can get some good lighting, the images can actually look fantastic.Feedback
Over the years of shooting various sunset or sunrise photos, I have come up with a few little things that can help you capture the right photo. Plan ahead when shooting sunrise or sunsets, patience is a virtue when shooting landscapes so wait for the right moment, don't use the auto white balance manually set it to get the warmer tones to get the best colour, use the rule of thirds or another rule to get the best perspectives and most of all don't get caught up in the camera you are using. Just shoot. You can always take a good photo whatever camera you use if you practice. Practice makes (almost) perfect and so, if you don't get that sunrise shot you want today, the sun will always rise tomorrow and you can try again!
