Photo was taken in San Francisco California at the California Academy of Sciences in Golden Gate Park. The Academy was the first public museum in California, founded in 1853. This is a diorama taxidermy exhibit that is among many others located in the Tusher African Hall. The African Hall was opened in 1934 not long after the Great Depression. If you haven't been there, and you are in the San Francisco bay area, I urge you to do so when it reopens. The Academy of Sciences houses wonderful exhibits such as the African Hall, a rain forest, an aquarium and a planetarium. Right now, during the COVID-19 pandemic they are in financial trouble. It is a non profit organization so donations are tax deductible if you file long form. If you would like to make donation, go to their website, https://give.calacademy.org/campaign/academy-relief-fund/c281361Time
The taxidermy zebras was an indoor diorama exhibit.Lighting
This photo was taken hand held without a flash, using only available light. Camera's aperture was 28/10, ISO/250, Shutter speed 1/60, and Focal length 12/1.Equipment
I used an Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mirrorless Digital Camera, 16 MegapixelInspiration
The exhibits in the African Hall at the California Academy of Sciences are so realistic, they make great photographic subjects and saved me the expense of flying all the way to Africa.Editing
The only post-processing I used was Photoshop CS4 to adjust the brightness and contrast on this photo. In my camera bag
I always carry a small Sony RX-100-V camera with me to capture any unexpected photo opportunities. Sadly the sensor went out on my Olympus OM-D E-M5, so now I am using the Olympus OM-D G10 and Panasonic DMC-GX1 Four-Thirds Mirrorless digital cameras and various telephoto and standard lenses.Feedback
