How is the sun behind the building yet also in the reflection? Too much editing makes the picture impossible.

The answer my friend is, this is fine art photography. Having used filters, intervalometer, tripod, long shutter speeds etc. The image I collect in camera, for me , is the start of the process not the end. I then use the digital tools available to me in an attempt to produce an image more in keeping with the vision I had at the time of capture. If I wanted a true reportage style picture, I would probably have taken a snap shot with the perfectly adequate camera on my iPhone. Hope this helps. :-)

Location
I took this photo during a 3 day trip to Frankfurt. I travelled with a friend who has no real interest in photography, in order to capture images of the architecture. It was always my intention to produce fine art images with my favourite shots from the trip.Time
I had set the alarm at 5.30am and set out to photograph some of the buildings I had noticed on a walk around the city the day before. The early shoot would enable quiet streets, low angles of light and the chance to meet my friend later that morning for breakfast.Lighting
Early morning light, but my fine art style enables me to play with and control the light in my images with an intention to create the surreal.Equipment
Camera, tripod, nd grads, 10 stop nd, intervalometer and the obligatory knee pad enabling me to capture images from low angles. :-)Inspiration
The work of other fine art photographers, some who choose the city of Frankfurt to run courses. Venues used by such photographers are always on my list. I do not partake of the courses, as being self taught I want to find my own way.Editing
I use lightroom, photoshop and Nik and Topaz products to achieve the 'look' I am after in my images. I like to manipulate the light using selections, layer masks, luminosity masks and gradient tools. I treat the capture of the image in camera as the start of the process. In my camera bag
Intervalometer, a wide range of both Hi Tec and Lee filters. Polorizers, nd grads, reverse nd grads along with filter cleaning cloth and a variety of lenses ranging from wide angle to telephoto. Always a few packets of soft mints and always a knee padFeedback
Capturing long exposure architectural images in a city environment can be difficult. This obviously requires the use of a tripod. The answer is to shoot at the most quiet times and ask and liaise with security personnel where possible. Walk the area beforehand and pick compositions and vantage points that you think would provide images you are looking for. Be aware of what and who is around you at all times.
