Location
I took this photo at home on my roof. This was shot to portray the mood of the famous Indian festival 'Holi', also known as the festival of colors. I used a black background. I had to take a lot f shots to get one perfect picture.Time
It was in the late afternoon till 5pm. Temperature was quite higher than expected.Lighting
It was in the afternoon when I started making the set up. I had to keep in mind that I had to start the shoot before 4pm cause I had to use the evening light. I had to make it sure that I could start at 4pm as the light would be available only for 1 hour. Before that light would be hard and after that it would be low. I used a black backdrop and placed it in the front of the sun light so that there were no hard transition. I enjoyed every bit of the shoot in spite of the temperature being a little higher than expected.Equipment
I used Nikon D810 along with Nikon FX 24-120mm, f/4. Black backdrop. Dry organic colors.Inspiration
During the Festival of colors - 'Holi' everyone in India enjoys playing with the dry and liquid colors (liquid colors are to be mixed with water). Photographers across the country visits various places to click moments of 'Holi'. I thought of doing it in a different way to portray it. I requested my friend (the model in the photograph) to be the model. I wanted an image where the mood would be portrayed in such a so that the inner joy, the calmness and the festival could be shown in one single picture.Editing
For this picture I wanted it to look natural. I did a minimal process for it as a high processing would have spoiled the mood.In my camera bag
With my camera I carry Nikon FX 24-120mm f/4 Lens, Nikon FX 50mm f/1.8 lens, a blower, a bag of silica gel. While traveling by car I use a reflector too.Feedback
For outdoor and this kind of shots specially use minimum equipments that will make you handy and you can focus more on your work and less worry about the equipments. Use shutter speed in such a way for this kind of shots so that a little motion is there. That will give the audience a live feeling.
