Behind The Lens
Location
This photo was taken in northwestern Missouri while on a mini-vacation visiting my dad.Time
It may not be the best time to take photos but this photo was taken during the early afternoon in mid-June.Lighting
Fortunately, the barn was on the North side of the road so even with the mid-day sun, I didn't have the shadows or glare.Equipment
This photo was shot with my Nikon D7000, side angle Sigma lens (10-20mm), handheld with no flash or filters.Inspiration
This photo is part of a series of a dozen shots which were inspired by my desire to explore the countryside around my dad's home for the last 15 years. It's a very nostalgic area that reminds me of where I am from.Editing
I did minimal post-processing. The colors that day were very vibrant so my adjustments were with contrast and brightness. In my camera bag
My bad usually depends on the trip I'm taking and the type of photos I am planning. For this particular trip, I had only two lenses with me, the Sigma 10-20mm wide angle used in this photo and my Nikon 70-120mm with a fixed aperture. If I'm going on a longer trip, I will include a 55mm prime lens and my tele-photo 120-400mm Sigma lens. If my tele-photo lens is packed or if I know I will have the opportunity for night shots, I will include my tripod. I have recently added a small lens ball to my bag which I'm still trying to master.Feedback
This barn with these clouds were a wonderful happenstance of the day so my advise would be to always be prepared for opportunities like this. In my visits since this photos was taken, I have not seen the skies look like this.
