Location
This photo was taken along the Alagnak River in Alaska.Time
The image was taken in the early afternoon from a boat in the river!Lighting
Of course, I had to use available lighting and there was little time to think about it! No tripod, of course!Equipment
Canon 7d Mark ii with a Sigma 150-600 mm lens and no tripod or flash. Camera settings were f5.6, ISO 2000 and 1/1000th sec.Inspiration
You have too think fast with wildlife ad be ready for any interesting activity. Knowing that the bear would jump in the water to catch a fish I kept focused on that area to get the shot when he came out of the water.Editing
Very minimal post-processing was done on this image other than some lighting adjustments and sharpening. In my camera bag
Canon 5d mark iii and Canon 7d mark iii with a variety of lenses, including wide angle, macro, 70-200 mm and 150-600 mm.Feedback
Get to know the wildlife you are shooting and look for similar patterns in their behavior. Then next time the animal does that particular behavior you can expect the next step and be ready with your camera!
