Behind The Lens
Location
My middle daughter Denise had recently moved to Ft. Calhoun, NE. A visit being in order, we arrived near Halloween and were lucky enough to experience their new kitty, Missy, at her most playful.Time
Late afternoonLighting
No time to worry about it although by luck the windows behind Missy face NorthEquipment
Canon D60 with a 18/175mm Canon lens. No filter but set at sport setting for moving action, even indoors during the day time. Assume adequate natural light.Inspiration
Missy had been in my luggage, under the covers of my bed, in the closet allotted me and was trying to get into plastic bags sitting on the floor near the luggage. I figured she was going to be doing many photographically funny or cute things and 20 minutes later, sure enough, she followed me to the kitchen and spotted the pumpkin. First time I ever saw a kitty attempt kareoke. First she sat on the pumpkin and then decided the stem was worth meowing at.Editing
Simply moved the shot into Lightroom and added a smidge of this and a pinch of that. Very minor addition of light primarilyIn my camera bag
Wish I could say "nearly anything you can think of" but in reality, Usually just a 300mm lens, cleaning equipment, extra battery and extra Sun Disk chips.Feedback
Always assume that 2 seconds from now the most amazing opportunity will be right in front of you. Leave the lens cap off and the setting for whatever you anticipate will be moving swiftly and do NOT put down the camera for any reason, ever! Worst case, have it around your neck. Always leave on AF unless you aren't interested in moving targets.
