Location
This is the top floor of the MyZeil shopping centre in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Even if one doesn't intend to buy anything, it pays to enter and take a ride on the longest unsupported escalator in Europe and enjoy the ever-changing view on the architecturally exceptional interior.Time
It was probably afternoon.Lighting
The combination of the straight lines and sharp points reflected and jumbled in the glass on the other side, together with the artificial yellow-light in details makes an interesting play of shapes and colours.Equipment
Nikon D3300 with its kit lens.Inspiration
The building is fascinating from the outside (it looks as if it has been pierced through) - but it impressed me even more from the inside. This is where one can witness how excellent architecture doesn't necessarily mean a building's shell is the sole attraction. The play of the function and structure can also be incorporated in the interior. The shapes and elements don't need to be seen and used as merely necessary - to serve the purpose of creating a space. They can simultaneously create an experience.Editing
I don't use a lot of post-processing. like to play with light and contrast a bit and sometimes I correct the colours. But I don't like it when photos are too surreal. I want my photos to portray the feeling I had when I was there - maybe one percent more than that. Everything else would be faking it, in my opinion. In my camera bag
I am a traveler first and a photographer second. Therefore I only pack my Nikon D3300 and sometimes a light tripod. I also use a polarising filter.Feedback
Do get inside. Who knows what you could discover. The first time I saw this building, I took a photo from the outside and then went away. I don't think I would have come inside if I hadn't known a local who intentionally took me in a few years later.
